  • ​The Community Action Poverty Simulation is a tool that helps participants rethink the challenges that millions of individuals with low income must face each and every day. More importantly, this tool helps people identify areas of change that can directly impact the effects of poverty on individuals, families and communities.

  • 2025-26 Certified Community Action Professional Study Group – Now in Session

    The Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) credential recognizes individuals who have demonstrated knowledge and application of the core competencies required to effectively carry out the vision, mission, purpose, and values of the Community Action movement. CCAP positions the Community Action Network to serve the best interests of people experiencing poverty.

    The program:

    Transmits the vision and values of the Community Action movement from one generation to the next.

    Guides individuals towards effective leadership within Community Action.

    Solidifies Community Action as a true calling.

    Recognizes and elevates the professional status of those that earn the CCAP credential.

    Embodies the Promise of Community Action.

    What’s included in the MinnCAP CCAP Study Group?

    • In-depth review of CCAP requirements and materials, including the national Community Action Code of Ethics.

    • Discussion on the CCAP Proctored Exam & Independent Writing Assignment Study Guides and Sources

    • Thorough review of Community Action Body of Knowledge:

    • The History, Vision & Values of the Community Action Movement;

    • Community Action Traditional Management Skills;

    • Organizational Leadership;

    • Theories about the Causes of Poverty and Strategies to Address those Causes; and

    • In-depth reflection on the New Hope Case Study.

    • Shared meeting platform with meeting agendas, discussion leader assignments, Study Guide sources and more.

    Anyone may participate in the MinnCAP CCAP Study Group

    • Participation is free.

    • Study Groups are OPTIONAL and not affiliated with the National Community Action Partnership.

    • Study group schedule will be determined according to needs of enrolled participants.

    • Participants are expected to be full participants- attend meetings, read assignments, participate in discussions.

    If you are affiliated with MinnCAP, you may be able to access a discounted enrollment fee by purchasing your CCAP enrollment through MinnCAP. Contact Michelle Peterson if you would like to be part of MinnCAP's bundled enrollment. (study group participation is not required for bundled enrollment rate)
