Northwest Community Action - Teen Journey
Teen Journey is a sixteen-week program for juveniles that are referred either by probation or social services. Two facilitators work with these teens weekly on the challenges they are facing and encourage them to realize a solution to their issues. This is a “Forward Thinking” curriculum that brings to light the emotional, chemical, social, or domestic issues that got them referred in the first place. The hopes of the program are self-awareness, and responsibility for the action taken. The series of books utilized are intended to guide the teen to find a new path as they transition on in life. Facilitators work with the teens one on one or in a group setting, but the success of this program is determined by the teen's attitudes and willingness to change. Currently, this program is funded through Roseau County and has served nine teens over the past 18 months. The success rate of this program is currently 80%. Because of this, juvenile probation officers and county social workers are supporting our efforts to expand Teen Journey into the other three counties served by Northwest Community Action, Inc.
