Community Action Means Affordable Housing at Three Rivers Community Action
Three Rivers Community Action is a community-based housing development nonprofit that creates and preserves affordable housing throughout southern Minnesota.
Since the late 1990s, Three Rivers has been increasing the supply of high‐quality housing that is permanently affordable, including apartments, townhomes and supportive housing units for families and individuals, as well as persons with disabilities. To meet local needs, Three Rivers uses an innovative project model that blends affordable workforce housing units with permanent supportive housing units together in one project.
The supportive housing units serve families that have experienced chronic homelessness and where one or more household member has a disability. The organization’s Housing Advocates deliver wrap-around services to the residents using delivery strategies that assist participants to maintain housing stability, improve overall wellness, engage in the community, and lead successful lives.
Three Rivers combines Housing Development with Housing Advocacy to address local needs. Three Rivers programs work together to provide units designated for households experiencing chronic homelessness into the development of new housing projects.
