Scott Carver Dakota CAP Agency puts on two distinct programs during the holiday season. Hope for the Holidays and Adopt a Senior. Hope for the holidays provides two ways to support families in our community. Adopting a family and fulfilling their holiday gift list and collecting toys and household supplies for CAP clients who did not complete a wish list. Adopt-a-Senior supports senior citizens by providing them with household goods and small gifts to let them know they are not alone this holiday season. For our senior clients who have been living in isolation due to the pandemic, Adopt-a-Senior is a great way to bring seasonal cheer into their homes in a safe and supportive way! Donors fill a reusable bag with the following items, which are then dispersed to participating seniors:
Dish soap
Dish towels
Tissues/Kleenex
Toilet paper (4-pack)
Paper towels (1 roll)
Package of coffee
$10 Gift card (Cub, Walgreens, Dollar Store)
Other suggested items (include 1-2 of the following): slipper socks, puzzles, books, word search, greeting cards/note cards, stamps, and a hand-written note.
Last year, Hope for the Holidays 2021 touched the lives of hundreds of our neighbors in Scott, Carver and Dakota counties – making it a holiday season to remember. Our donors generously contributed $161,050 worth of toys, gifts, and new household items for 1,540 households including 1,680 children and 960 seniors. We were even able to provide a $50 gift card to every parent in our program this year.
We are pleased to share that with the outpouring of support this year, our HFTH program was 100% community driven.

This Holiday season, please fill a reusable bag with items our seniors most often need. The goodie bag of items you purchase will be hand delivered through our CHORE volunteers, creating a personal connection during a holiday season that is lonely for many older adults. Click HERE to learn more.
