Laughter and shrieks of delight filled the air Wednesday afternoon on East Belvidere Street in St. Paul.

The Family Fun "Spring Fling" at Community Action Partnership of Ramsey and Washington Counties' Westside Head Start Center was a full-fledged success as children participated in activities and parents learned more about Community Action.

"I really like it," said Alejandro Hernandez, as he watched his son Benjamin jump a bouncy house, of the Head Start program. "It keeps him focused. It helps him built up the skills he really needs, learning and talking, and even making friends."

The bouncy house held Benjamin and a continuous group of delighted Head Start children, along with their brothers and sisters. Washable face tattoos were place on delighted faces, and the joy of the event could be felt by those in attendance.

As Bonnie Pierce watched her 4-year-old daughter Jemma participate in activities, she said "These are great memories."

Free books were there for the children to select from, along with information for parents about other resources that CAPRW offers.

Center Education Coordinator Tracy Galatz treated excited children and their parents to red or blue snow cones. She said the event represented what "community action is about." Learn more about the Minnesota Head Start Association at mnheadstart.org
